Meet a TC Engineer

Suzanne

Suzanne

Q: When did you join Tomorrow Communications?
A: It was August 2005, infact I signed my contract on my birthday.

Why do you work at TC?
A: Well I know it's a cliché, but I am going to have to say the people. You have to put up with your fair share of ribbing, but they're not a bad lot really. Also, the mixture of roles, projects and clients keeps things interesting. Although, of course, you never need feel out of your depth, there is such a degree of knowledge and experience amongst the guys that someone, somewhere has already come across it and can help.

Q: What types of technologies are you exposed to?
A: Where do you start, from MPLS WANs to Multicast LANs. Load-balancing on old Alteons & Directors through to BlueCoats and F5s, and just about every flavour of firewall. The Nexus are some of the newest, shiniest boxes a few of the clients are looking at now, along with a strong focus on Application Delivery and Virtualisation.

Q: What is most enjoyable about the work you do?
A: I like the variety and the challenge that it brings with it, moving from one client and/or project to another and having to turn your hand to different tasks and apply yourself in varied ways is not only a great learning experience but also very satisfying. That is, when you do it well ; )

Q: What have you been up to socially in the past year?
A: When I'm not at a Mars Fortress gig, or helping out with another TC Cinema Epic, I spend a lot of time doing yoga, meditating and painting. I'm a bit of a bore really.

Q: What did you want to be when you were younger?
A: A Rockstar, An Olympic Sprinter, An Olympic Gymnast, An SAS soldier (but my Father said I would have to clean the toilet with a toothbrush all of the time), A Fashion Designer, A Professional Surfer, A Fighter Pilot (although as a female I thought perhaps reconnaissance would be more practical), An actress, An artist.
As you can see I'm still deciding....
